Many years ago I traveled to the South Carolina coast in September to witness a lunar eclipse and “Blood Moon” — a phase that now rises once more. Saturn was rising near the moon, both lifting slowly over the Atlantic horizon.
I felt drawn there, though I could not have explained why. Something in me sensed that inner tides were beginning to turn.
I Remember A Chill — Not Fear Exactly, But A Recognition Of Magnitude.
In the years that followed, much did shift. Structures I had relied upon began to loosen. But the moon had not predicted anything. It had simply mirrored what was already underway.
Not long before that eclipse, I painted myself seated on a bridge above a restless river. Storm clouds gathered. The current below was tempestuous.
Yet the woman on the bridge — red chiffon dress, arms resting lightly on the rail — did not appear afraid.
There was even a hint of levity in her posture, as if she already knew:
I Can Go Through This.
And I Did.
The structure I was living within would not carry me into the next half of life.
Tonight, during this lunar eclipse, I sense quietly that the woman in the red dress already knew she would become this version of me — not the one bracing on the shoreline, but the one who has crossed and remembers the initiation.
When the sky darkens, notice what darkens inside you.
When the moon turns red, notice what rises.
Visible shifts in the heavens stir something ancient in us. The question is not what they predict, but what they reveal.
When the moon enters shadow, we are reminded that light is not constant — and neither is darkness. Somewhere tonight, someone watches this same moon under far more precarious conditions than mine.
The Sky Does Not Differentiate.
Our Circumstances Do.
In times of upheaval, what we most need is not prediction, but steadiness.
A Meditation For Steadiness
Tonight I Feel No Omen — Only Rhythm.
The sky entering shadow and returning to light, as it always has. If this darkened moon stirs awe, unease, or wonder in you, let it be information, not prophecy.
The Shadow Passes.
The Silver Returns.
And We Continue.
